Meet Stanley!

Stanley is my new best friend and I hope he's going to stick around for a bit because he's turned out to be quite useful.
Stanley is not really designed for motorcycle manufacture, he's meant to make sure that your house walls are nice and flat but he can be persuaded to hold a piece of wet and dry paper and that makes him very useful for sanding large areas (like my petrol tank). I can also see him being very helpful when I need to make patterns for fibreglass work. Before, I've made large hand sanders by sticking abrasive paper to a suitable piece of wood, which are fine until the abrasive wears out.

Stanley Hand Sander

A standard wet & dry sheet will (just about) make 3 sanding sheets for Stanley. I've been using 320 grit which the spring clips on the end hold hold nice and tightly. With coarser grit papers, which tend to be quite brittle, the spring clips can snap the paper rather than hold it.
I like Stanley. I'm glad I bought him.
If you want a Stanley in your life too, expect to pay around £12 from
EBAY and all the other usual places.
