Mz Cafe Racer
The 1991 MZ ETZ 251 never really set pulses racing. They were known more for their rugged engineering and were only really popular with people who wanted an inexpensive, reliable workhorse.
Standard Mz 251
But look at what can be done with a little inspiration (and a lot of hours in the garage!)
Finished Mz Cafe Racer
This transformation is the work of Martin Green, and he did all of the work himself apart from the seat. (He persuaded his next door neighbour to help with that!)
Mz Custom Switchgear
The one-off parts fabricated and fitted include (but are certainly not limited to): the seat unit and undertray, fork brace, headlight/ speedo brackets, front number plate, intake scoop, running lights, brake lever pivot etc. etc. Not to mention the hours and hours spent cleaning and polishing the aluminium parts, and prepping the bodywork before applying the final paint.
Polished Mz Engine
Martin has written a comprehensive blog detailing the build and it is well worth a read, even if MZs are not your thing, as it contains lots of information on the build process which is not bike specific and might give you some ideas for your own projects. So pop over and read his blog HERE.
Otherwise, just enjoy looking at the pictures.
