Workshop Blog - November 2022

Absolutely no progress on the project bike at all this month as I've been busy moving stuff. The lathe and the milling machine have finally made their way to my current garage - although not without incident...

Moving the milling machine went quite smoothly. It's not a large machine, but it's heavy enough. Managed to move it by carefully jacking it onto a wheeled trolley, which then conveniently made the top of the cabinet a similar level to the tailgate of the pickup truck. Once manoeuvered in place behind the truck, the mill was unbolted from the cabinet and slid onto the truck bed.

The reverse procedure was then used to get the mill back on the cabinet when it reached it's new home. That all sounds easy and stress free, it wasn't quite like that in reality but it was without incident. Unlike the lathe...

I was hands off on the lathe moving, leaving it to the 'safe' hands of a couple of friends. Here it is loaded on the trailer. When they sent me this picture, I didn't actually realise that it had already had one little lie down.

It had another one when it reached it's new home...

Lathe laying down

Sustained some damage. The most significant being the almost total destruction of the motor mount.

But never mind, it's here now. No one got hurt and I've repaired the damage.
